A new chapter at EduLife

At Sanari, we’re drawn to family-owned businesses with a purpose that runs deeper than the balance sheet – and EduLife Group is exactly that. Founded by Koos Engelbrecht almost 30 years ago and built over the past two decades by his son, Hansie Engelbrecht, EduLife has grown from one man’s conviction that education can change a family’s trajectory into a group that makes quality schooling accessible to families who might otherwise be unable to afford it. From 6 students in a house in Bloemfontein to over 4500 learners across 7 school campuses in the Free State, Eastern Cape, Gauteng and now Western Cape, Hansie has spent more than twenty years honouring his father’s ambition, and the legacy speaks for itself.

Our role now is to help carry that legacy into its next stage. That’s why we’re thrilled that EduLife has appointed Tanya Goncalves as CEO. Tanya shares the values that have always defined EduLife, and we’ve seen firsthand – through our prior work together – the clarity and care she brings to a business. Having joined EduLife earlier this year as Chief Strategy and Business Officer, she already knows the organisation well, and her c.28 years across education, strategy, impact and private equity make her the right person to lead what comes next.

Leadership transitions matter in any business, and especially in a school group, where parents and students place enormous trust in the stability of the organisation. We’re confident the knowledge and culture Hansie built are in safe hands – and we’re excited for what this next stage of growth holds.
